Since 1977, the historic mountain town of Aspen, Colorado, has been the proud host of the annual Aspen Gay Ski Week. Boasting over 480 kilometers of ski and snowboard trails across its four zones – Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass, it offers a broad array of winter sports terrain. Whether you enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or winter hiking, Aspen’s trails in the Elk Mountains of Colorado have you covered.

Whistler Pride & Ski Festival | Whistler Blackcomb, Canada

January 21 – 28, 2024

Canada, known for its progressive attitudes towards the LGBTQ+ community, marked its 150th anniversary of unification in 2017. Since 1992, the Whistler Pride & Ski Festival has brought together individuals of all identities to enjoy inclusive winter sports across over 250 kilometers of slopes at Whistler Blackcomb. With a robust entertainment lineup and the vibrant ambiance of the Whistler ski resort, the Pride & Ski Festival promises an unforgettable Canadian adventure. We had the privilege of experiencing the festival’s 30th edition firsthand in January 2018!

Elevation Utah Gay Ski Week | Park City, USA

February 28 to March 8, 2024

Beyond Aspen, the USA boasts an array of impressive ski areas such as Park City – Deer Valley in Utah. This location encompasses three ski areas: Park City, Deer Valley, and The Canyons, offering approximately 250 km of ski and snowboard trails, reaching altitudes up to 3,050 meters. In 2020, the Utah Gay Ski Week celebrated its 10th anniversary, inviting LGBTQ+ ski and snowboard enthusiasts to partake in a comprehensive schedule of events at this top-tier ski resort. The extended weekend in Utah’s mountains fosters camaraderie among both new and established friends within the community. It’s worth exploring, particularly if you’ve enjoyed Zion National Park in Utah.

Elevation Mammoth Gay Ski Week | Mammoth Mountains, USA

March 13-17, 2024

The Elevation Ski Week brand originated from the Mammoth Ski Area. For over 16 years, Mammoth Mountain, California’s premier ski area, has hosted the Mammoth Gay Ski Week, an event curated by Tom Whitman. Situated south of Yosemite National Park and north of Sierra National Forest, Mammoth Gay Ski Week unfolds near the Mammoth Lakes, a stone’s throw from Mono Lake, which we visited on our month-long road trip through the US southwest. Jasper Pride Festival | Jasper, Canada

“Jasper, Proud & Free” – For a decade, every March, Jasper has joyously held its Jasper Pride Festival, featuring a vibrant rainbow flag skiing parade at the Marmot Basin ski area, home to about 100 km of ski and snowboard runs. Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Jasper is a charming mountain ski resort known for its diverse, inclusive community. It serves as a picturesque winter and ski holiday destination for the local queer community, LGBT travelers, and numerous LGBT couples, nestled between Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary. We relished our experience at Jasper National Park during the Jasper Pride Festival! Now, we are excited to share more about the exceptional LGBT-friendliness and natural beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Arosa Gay Ski Week | Arosa, Switzerland

January 20 – 27, 2024

Switzerland’s Arosa Ski Area is a beacon of LGBTQ+ inclusivity in the Alps, proudly displaying rainbow flags throughout the winter. Since 2005, it has hosted a week-long event providing unparalleled entertainment in the Swiss mountains. This vibrant gathering, spanning 220 km of snowy slopes, draws over 600 lesbian and gay winter sports enthusiasts from more than 30 countries for an unforgettable time of skiing and camaraderie. Snow Queer Festival, formerly Snow Gay Weekend | Boí Taüll, Spain

Spain, too, can transform into a winter wonderland! “Rainbow Barcelona Tours” hosts the Snow Queer Festival at the Ski Area Boí Taüll, nestled in the Spanish Pyrenees of Lleida. The 47 km north-facing ski and snowboard runs guarantee superb snow conditions, forming the perfect setting for your Spanish winter getaway. An exhilarating mix of sports, events, and parties, orchestrated under the lively stewardship of hosts Pupi Poison and La Nenuco, promises an unforgettable weekend adventure!

SWING Gay Ski Week | Lenzerheide, Switzerland

March 3 – 10, 2024

Think of it as the more intimate, seasoned counterpart of Gay Ski Weeks – the SWING Gay Ski Week in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. For context, Arosa and Lenzerheide are two resorts within the vast Arosa-Lenzerheide Ski Area, boasting 225 km of ski and snowboard trails. Upholding their slogan “Another Way of Skiing”, they present a gay-friendly, personally curated ski week set in a snow-sure high valley, accompanied by a comprehensive event program. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with friends, relish the Swiss snow, and share experiences with like-minded LGBT individuals from around the globe.

European Snow Pride | Espace Killy, France

March 16 – 23, 2024

The French Alps set the backdrop for two Gay Snow Weeks each spring. First up is the European Snow Pride, set in Espace Killy, a sprawling ski region offering 300 km of ski runs and comprising two ski areas, Val d’Isere and Tignes. Accommodating everyone from beginners to experts, Espace Killy peaks at a towering 3,450 meters. Since 2011, a stellar roster of après-ski DJs, singers, and dancers have electrified the French Alps against an awe-inspiring mountain panorama.

European Gay Ski Week | Les Arcs, France

March 23 – 30, 2024

Cheers to 14 years! In 2022, the European Gay Ski Week marked its 14th anniversary. Hundreds from the LGBT community gather to commemorate Europe’s premier Gay Winter Sports and Music Festival at Paradiski in France. Paradiski, one of the world’s largest interconnected ski areas, and the well-known Les Arcs resort, are hosting Europe’s most significant gay-friendly ski week for the 11th time. Notably, our renowned Dutch Drag Queen, Lady Galore, attended the previous year. Join the gay and lesbian skiing and snowboarding aficionados for an unforgettable winter ski holiday in France.

Winter Pride Sölden | Sölden, Austria

March 16 – 23, 2024

As Europe’s top ski nation, Austria plays host to the Sölden Gay Snow Happening in one of its most renowned ski areas, Ötztaler Alpen. Since 1998, the Austrian LGBTQ+ community has reveled in 145 km of ski slopes and the vibrant diversity of LGBT culture. The Sölden ski area promises not only dependable snow but also an exuberant après-ski scene, all up to an altitude of 3,340 meters. Australia & NZ Gay Ski Weeks

Rainbow Mountain | Thredbo, Australia

August 10 - 12th, 2023

Rainbow Mountain returns to Thredbo in 2023, celebrating LGBTQIA+ community and diversity on a grander scale than ever. This three-day extravaganza, crammed with snow events, après-ski, parties, and a huge live concert, culminates in a champagne lunch. Rainbow Mountain isn’t just about the vibrant festivities; it’s a gateway to an unbelievable holiday package to Aspen Snowmass! Gay Ski Week QT | Queenstown, New Zealand

While in Europe summer is ending, in New Zealand spring is about to start! This is the best time for Winter sport since warmer weather conditions are making the snow soft and the LGBT Winter sports fans from (almost) down under are getting spring fever. A perfect time for the largest gay & lesbian Winter Pride, the Gay Ski Week QT, in the Southern Hemisphere at Cardrona Alpine Resort just 35 minutes from downtown Queenstown, New Zealand. Thus, when you are discovering the home of the hobbits around the end of August, don’t forget to bring your Winter clothes and join the LGBT community of New Zealand for a fun week in the snow.
